bioshock 300x225 GameFly launches its own PC client with free BioShock, sale on RPGsGameFly is taking on the likes of Steam and Origin with its own PC client for games and is giving away a free copy of the original BioShock to entice players to try it out and is running a 75% off sale on a handful of role-playing games.

The service features 1,500 PC games to purchase at the start along with hundreds of free games. This is on top of the thousands available of console games to rent and buy.

“We used the positive and constructive feedback from our community during the beta to help make the best product possible,” Sean Spector, GameFly co-founder, said in a statement. “To celebrate the launch of the client, we’re excited to partner with 2K Games to give away their highly acclaimed PC game Bioshock for free.”

Similar to Steam and Origin, the GameFly client offers a store and library to access and launch the games you’ve purchased. There’s also videos, screenshots and community offerings. However, the company is also leveraging its ownership of Shacknews to provide gaming news through the client.

You can download the client for yourself to check out for yourself from GameFly’s website. I tried it out last night because free BioShock, duh. The download and installation went fairly quick and worked fine but I had an issue with the sound disappearing in the game after the first cut-scene. I don’t know if that was due to the client, the game or my PC.

Anyways, here are the PC RPGs that are also on sale this weekend through the GameFly.

  • Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition – $7.49
  • Dragon Age: Origins – $4.99
  •  Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – $4.99
  • Mass Effect 2 – $4.99
  • The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut – $4.99
  • The Witcher 2: Assassin’s of Kings Enhanced Edition – $14.99
